Amici di Raoul Follereau has been working for people affected by Leprosy and people with disability in India. We support medical, surgical, social and rehabilitation activities for people affected by leprosy, all kind of disabilities and vulnerable groups. AIFO supports National Leprosy Eradication Programme (NLEP). Dr. V Ekambaram (1917-2003), after serving in the Indian Army for 5 years, dedicated his life for leprosy eradication from 1950 onwards. He was the first State Leprosy Officer of Tamil Nadu & was involved in the planning and implementation of ‘Multi-Drug’ therapy by National Leprosy Elimination Programme (NLEP). In 1979
Dr. V Ekambaram became the Indian representative of AIFO Italy and in 1998 AIFO India was registered to address leprosy in India.
