Zero transmission
The goal to zero transmission is to cut the chain of transmission at all possible ways. At GLRA India, the projects are designed with an emphasize to reduce the contraction among contacts of index leprosy cases. From the previous projects, it was observed, the main characteristics facilitating the contraction of leprosy was among family and neighbourhood contacts were shown to be consanguinity and household association. GLRA’s projects across all locations made it a priority with 100% family contact screening and 50 neighbourhood household screening among all new cases reported from 2021. Further to it organizing monthly skin camps in farthest PHCs and villages made it a practice to promote early case detection and thus prevent transmission. While promoting contact screening on the one hand, GLRA also focussed on community awareness campaigns through audio-based interventions to change the KAPs of the communities towards leprosy on the other hand. The web-app based innovations are found to be useful to reach the target population as well to improve the knowledge of frontline health workers.
